PermaNET mid-term conference, Innsbruck, July 6-8, 2010

The PermaNET mid-term conference, organised by the University of Innsbruck will take place July 6-8th, 2010 in Innsbruck. Public events, lectures and a press conference on July 6th presenting for the first time a perliminary map of permafrost distribution in the Alps will be followed by project workshops on July 7th and and excursion on July 8th. Permafrost Monitoring Network, WP4: Milestone 1


We are pleased to announce the completion of Milestone 1 of WP4. Therein all permafrost monitoring activities of the permaNET partners were identified, documented and classified. This represents an important first step along the way of establishing a coherent permafrost monitoring network in the Alpine Space and constitutes the basis for all ongoing research within permaNET as well as future permafrost related projects.

Upcoming Conferences:

On September 25th and 26th The PermaNet project presents and organizes as part of the "Herbsttagung der Geologen"
the meeting "LEBEN und BAUEN im PERMAFROST" in Bozen / Bolzano.



Fondazione Montagna sicura and the other partners of the Cabina di Regia dei Ghiacciai Valdostani have organised a conference about glaciers and permafrost in Aosta Valley on 1st October:  "Ghiacciai e permafrost in Valle d'Aosta - Forzanti meteoclimatiche, evoluzione ed effetti" ("Glaciers and permafrost in Aosta Valley - Climatic constraints, evolutions and effects"). The conference will be held at Jardin de l'Ange in Courmayeur (Aosta Valley). The languages of the speeches are Italian and French.
